Lake Placid is a bit of a tourist trap but it balances well the need for commerce with the desire to be welcoming and unpretentious. I visited 10 years prior and from what I can see nothing has really changed.

My first stop is the Lake Placid Visitor Bureau. They are very helpful in answering my questions about the village and the Winter Olympic Sport Complex.

Interested in what's happening in town? Another source of information is the Lake Placid News, the local newspaper.

Been bad? The village boasts a multitude of churches. There are at least two others I didn't take pictures of.
