Great Smoky Mountains National Park
North Carolina/Tennessee Border

Wow, the baldness of the bald provides ample opportunities for panoramas! I think I'm looking in a westerly direction right now. So that means I'm looking at Tennessee.

Time for a rest break. Ohhh, my dogs are really starting to hurt me, time for a rubdown. Maybe I'd be wiser to not hike in sneakers? I have to admit, the lionshare of my hikes are partaken wearing sneakers. I only break out the hiking boots if the trail conditions are wet, rocky, or if I'm carrying a heavy backpack.

I just noticed, the rock I'm sitting on has this interesting crystallization going on. In one section, its running through the rock like a worm.
