I pull into the parking area and notice someone is taking tickets. After surrendering my ticket I pull forward into the parking area.

This is odd, I have to drive around a small loop that takes me under the Whiteface Castle twice before I can park.

I park the van in preparation for my summit adventure.

My options are clearly stated, either ride or hike. Of course I choose to hike.

Choosing the hiking option means I will depart from Whiteface Castle. On the way I pass this sign announcing what wars are being memorialized by the Whiteface Memorial Highway. The wars include the American Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
