Glacier National Park
Northwestern Montana

As the grade starts to raise, I'm informed not to pass any cars for the next 12 miles (fat chance) and I have no business being here between 11am and 4pm. My watch says 6pm so this is going to be a legal ride (shoot, no drama!). Actually, I learned about this beforehand at the visitor's center.

As I ride along I notice there are few cars going my way, and at times I have nice, long stretches of the road all to myself. Prior, when driving up to the campground, I encountered a lot of traffic and started to dread the thought of sharing the roadway with the 2 to 3 ton bike killer beasts of rubber and steel. But that doesn't happen, my prayers are being answered. I think part of it I can attributed to the human appetite. It's dinner time now and it mkes sense that folks are all hunkered down over their Coleman stoves cooking up their evening grub.

The 5 mile warmup soon comes to an abrupt end, the intrepid incline has finally arrived. I shift into second gear and start peddling, and peddling, and peddling. At this point I need a little inspiration so...

...I slap on a some game face. Yeah BABY! This mountain isn't going to beat me!

I'm humming along at a pretty nice pace considering the effort I have to put into the peddles. I'm able to maintain 10.5 mph, if only for a little while. Gotta grab your glory whenever and wherever you can get it.
