This section of the cave has a lot of lighting. Previously elusive, in these photos I'm able to capture some of the depth of the surrounding caverns.


Here we have three formations, namely, The Chandelier, The Totem Pole, and The Cave Man. Can you see them?


At any given moment in time, only 5% of the cave is "active", meaning dripping water is working its magic and creating new formations (speleothems). Crystal String Dome is one of the most active sites, and perhaps the largest growing speleothem in Carlsbad Caverns. Below the formation I find a small pool of water.


This section of the cave supports a number of varied and interesting cave decorations.
