Sight: #1

Location: San Juan Island, Washington

Link: Official Website

Rating:   (5 max)

Today I'll be biking around the Island's perimeter, covering approximately 50 miles in the process. My writeup here will only cover the island's scenic highlights. Click here for a more in depth look at my bike ride as covered in the biking section of this website.

The island consists of rolling hills commingled with flatland that's frequently used for farming and raising livestock.

After a bit of biking I arrive at Roche Harbor. It's pronounced "rowsh", not "roach". But ordinary folks probably pronounce it "roach" I'm sure. Here's the resort's main restaurant and hotel off to the right.

Boats of every shape and size can be found docked in the harbor. My personal favorite is the expensive yacht in the second picture. In a life-time I'll probably never make as much as it's worth. But, that's okay, it's just stuff, right? Can't take it with you. Sounds like I'm probably one of the folks who mis-pronounce the name of the harbor.
