The first stop on my tour of historical Plymouth is the National Monument to the Forefathers. Standing 81 feet tall, this solid granite monument was erected as a tribute to America's Forefathers.
Click here for more detail and pictures of my tour of this impressive monument.
After checking out the Forefathers Monument, I wander around town for a bit. The architecture here is classical, and I be likin' it.
My next stop, Pilgrim Hall Museum, the oldest public museum in the United States.
Out front I find this weatherworn, stone tablet. Engraved on its surface is the Mayflower Compact.
I enter the museum and quickly find out cameras are not allowed. Boooo! Hisss! What a bunch of party-poopers! In any event, the museum contains two levels of really old stuff, all relating to the Pilgrims. I'm not much of a history buff or museum-goer. After about 15 minutes of trying to absorb each exhibit's placard, I surrender, and resort to just looking, not reading. You know, there is only so much I can read about this stuff. Maybe I have Adult A.D.D.? I wonder, is there such a thing as Museum A.D.D.?
