Lake Placid, New York

The announcements go on and on.

I enter the building and go upstairs. On my way up I pass this sign for Octoberfest. Too bad, I've arrived a week too soon. From the locals I hear it's quite the drunken event.

After a little wandering around I find the entrance to the old ice arena.

As I walk through the door a massive earthquake strikes Lake Placid. And I'm talking a big one, a regular 9.0 on the Richter Scale. This is the root cause of my shaky, blurry pictures... ummmm... okay, there's no earthquake, it's me, a Jeffquake. It's really dark in the arena (my flash doesn't help) so I have to increase my exposure time and since I can't hold perfectly still, the camera moves a little and the end-result is blurring. This is a perfect time for a tripod. I have one back in the van but I'm not about to go back and fetch it. Yeah, I'm not a hardcode photojournalist. Hey, I'm on vacation ya know!
