Plymouth, Massachusetts

As you can see, the crew is nice and tidy with their ropes. There's a bell here, the dinner bell perhaps?

Here are the Special Cabins, they are located in the stern of the ship.

Nearby I see the Helmsman with whipstaff. It's used to control the ship's rudder.

It's time to descend to the ship's Main Deck. This is where most of Mayflower's passengers were quartered. The second picture is looking aft (rear of ship), the third picture is looking forward (front of ship). Aft, forward, bow, stern, I even know what port and starboard means. I think I'm ready to sail this ship. Oh, right, nevermind, I don't know how to use a sextant.

There's not a whole lot of room down here, it really must have been a fairly cramped 65 days at sea for the Pilgrims. You know what really sucks? Having to live in such a place for 65 days, only to die a few months later. I didn't know this but about half the Mayflower Pilgrims died within 2 to 3 months of landing.

Well, I've think I've seen just about all I want to see of the ship, the time has arrived to jump ship!

On my way to the exhibit's exit I run across these placards that talk about The Mayflower II's collaboration, construction, and ongoing restoration.
