Memphis, Tennessee

Sprinkled around the three block entertainment complex I spy signs for "Big Ass Beer." Drinking is allowed on the street here, just like in New Orleans, so this is a great place to get down and party! Wooo Hooo!

Some miscellaneous establishments and attractions, including Kings Palace Cafe, A. Schwab, Silky O'Sullivan's, Pat O'Briens, People's Billiard Club, and Memphis Music.

This is strange. I pass by a large steel support system that's designed to hold up the building's fascade. I think I'll give this building a wide berth.

In the distance I hear live music playing. Curious, I follow my ear which takes me to Handy Park. Dedicated to composer, music publisher, and purported Father of the Blues, W.C. Handy, Handy has been credited with introducing the once obscure, regional music style called the blues to the nation's masses via his published compositions.

Oh great! The park is currently hosting a blues band. I listen to their sounds for a while, they're really good! Here's a video (3.5 MB) of guitar playing, a video (1.9 MB) of some singing, a video (3.2 MB) of harmonica playing, and more video (3.1 MB) of harmonica playing. Check out how many harmonicas the singer has? I count at least 10!
