White Mountain National Forest
Southern New Hampshire

Only 1.4 miles to go to the top of Mount Chocorua, time for a well deserved break. While resting we chat with some fellow hikers. Hey, Camp Penacook is just over yonder. Campsites at Camp Penacook are available on a first come, first serve basis. Aside from Jim Liberty Cabin, no camping or fires are allowed anywhere else on the upper part of Mount Chocorua.

Hurray! After a little more hiking I notice we're starting to rise above the treeline.

Finally our efforts are rewarded with these nice vistas. We still have a ways to go, but at least the scenery will gently poke and prod us the rest of the way.

Bill atop Mount Chocorua... NOT! We still have a ways to go. It was a nice thought anyway. Now exposed to the elements, without the aid of the sun to keep us warm, the chilly cold starts to seep in. For the first time I find myself grateful for the uphill climb, the exertion will help keep us warm.

A lone hiker commuting with nature. Too bad he has to contend with a foggy view.

At this point the trail turns on us and throws us some hefty slope.
