With that thought in mind I immediately break out out my flashlight.

Next, I take my mind off the bears, I entertain myself by trying to write my first name using the moon. Damn! Well you can thank my camera batteries for dying and putting an end to my stupid picture taking, or any picture taking for that matter.

The hike is finally over, I make it back to the van around 8pm. When I arrive it's pitch dark so I'm really thankful for having the foresight to brought along my flashlight.

In summary, the hike was a lot harder that I had anticipated. Being tired from the yesterday's bike ride didn't help matters but the kicker was the messed up knee. But like most things, you have to accept the bad with the good. And the good on this hike is better represented with words like great, wonderful, spectacular, fun, challenging, the list goes on and on.

I rate my out and back hike of Mount Marcy a resounding 5 thumbs-up out of a possible 5 thumbs.
